Full Day Toulouse Wine Tour to discover this area that is surrounded by some of the oldest vineyards planted in the time of the Roman occupation of Gaul. The vineyards of Toulouse are situated in the foothills of the Pyrenees and to the north, where we find the vinyards and wines of Gaillac.
To the south Limoux, famous for its sparkling white wines, has a particular connection to the famous Champagne region and to Dom Perignon who was a Benediction monk serving at the abbey of Saint Hilaire. Local legend has it that he developed the “Methode Champenoise” while he was here and took this technique back to the Champange region and so “stole the secret of Limoux”!
In the area is the only Vineyard still owned totally by the Baron Phillipe De Rothchilds and his sons, and the exciting Domaine de Gayda run by Master of wine Mathew Stubbs, where you can take a day wine making course including lunch at the fabulous restaurant at Gayda.
To the North we offer visits to the vineyards north east of Toulouse, the Gaillac wine growing region is famous for its new wines and full reds.
We can collect you, or your group (Maximum 6), from your hotel in Toulouse for your wine tour of the Vineyards. Once we have arrived you will be meet by the vineyard owner and given a private tour of the estates and its vines, followed by a visit to the winery and the fermentation area. To finish our visit, the cellar awaits us, where you will see the last few years of harvest maturing in oak barrels. We end our visit with a wine tasting sampling the fine wine makers art.
We have a wide range of choices for lunch that can be arranged before your visit. We usually visit three Vineyards on your day excursion, at the end of which we will return you to Toulouse and to your hotel. Departs Toulouse or surrounding area.
