Rhône Alps The Rhône Alps region is the place to visit for spectacular mountain views and a vast array of outdoor activities. Glamorous ski resorts in picturesque towns and villages offer  much to do in both summer and winter. There is something for everyone and  activities might include, golfing, river rafting, horseback riding, hang gliding, cycling, hiking and skiing. Take time to relax by the clear waters of a lake side resort or spa and enjoy swimming and sailing.

There are many wonderful cities and towns in this region that reflect its history and present gastronomic specialties to tempt you. The gastronomic capital of France is found in the city of Lyon ,where you will find many delectable dishes in the many family run bouchons. Lyon is also known for it ancient Roman sites and historic silk weavers district.  Next you can meander the cobbled stone streets of Annecy, a charming destination with canals that wind throughout this lakeside town. It is often called the "Venice of the Alps".

In your travels in this region sample the red Beaujolais wines. Also look for some of the wines from the smaller vineyards which offer some outstanding varieties.
