Pure Provence

If you have longed to see Provence, then our Pure Provence Tour will highlight a good mix of what Provence is all about, from breathtaking scenery to Provencal wine and everything in between. Provence welcomes you for an experience you will always remember.

Prices Starting at $2739 per person

Day 1: Arrive in Provence

You will be met by your private driver and transferred upon arrival to your Provencal hotel. The remainder of the day you will be on your own to discover a nearby town or enjoy some much needed down time by the pool to get over your jet lag. Explore the gardens and a wonderful dinner at your hotel.

Day 2: Gordes / Roussillon / LacostGordes

After breakfast, your driver/guide will pick you up at your hotel for a walking tour of the perched village of Gordes and a visit to the farmers market. The view of Gordes as you approarch the village is amazing and you will have time to stop for pictures. Next you will visit a family owned olive mill for an olive oil tasting and a chance to see the olive orchard up close Lunch is on your own, but your guide will offer suggestions. Following lunch you will discover the village of Roussillon, know for its beautiful ochre hills. You will have a short hike on the ochre foot path before heading to Lacost for a walking tour. You will even catch a glimpse of the castle of the Marquis de Sade.

Day 3: Saint Remy / Lavendar or Les Baux

Discover the bustling Provencal market in Saint Remy this morning. Be sure to make a stop in the chocolate shopp known for their delicous alphabet chocolates. Following the market you will enjoy your choice of a lavendar tour in season or a visit to the medieval village of Les Baux.

Day 4: Arles / Pont du Gardarles-arena

An incredible day with your driver/guide as you discover Arles and its links to Van Gogh. See the splendid city and Roman Arena that is still used today. You will see the places where Van Gogh used live and some of the spots throughout the city where he painted some of his most famous works. Next a stop in Nimes to view one of the most well preserved Roman arenas in the world. Later this afternoon you will visit Le Pont du Gard, a UNESCO world heritage sight and magnificent three level Roman Aquaduct.

Day 5: Camargue

Full day with your driver/guide in the Camargue iwth its amazing landscapes and wildlife. You will see the Camargue horses, pnk flamingos and black bulls. A visit to Saintes Marie de la Mer and a chance for lunch along the sea before spending the afternoon in the port of Cassis to explore the Calanques with its dramatic cliffs, blue waters and hidden beaches. You will have an opportunity to hike or take a nature walk along the Calanques for a great panoramic view of the cliffs.

*Optional boat ride to see Les Calanques is at your own expense.

Day 6: Wine and Chocolate Tasting

Once again you will be picked up by your driver/guide. Today is about wine and chocolate. You will be treated to a wine blending in the Rhone Valley where yu will have a chance to blend your own perosnal wine. You will learn how to taste wines and you will leave the class with your ersonalized bottle. Following class you will stop for a chocolate & wine pairing. After lunch a drive to the Cotes du Ventoux for a winetasting and scenic drive in the Dentelles de Montmirail before doing a muscat wine tasting at the end of the day.

*Note that if you have a favorite wine from the Cote du Rhone we are happy to try to arrange a tasting for you and adjust today's activities.

Day 7: Depart for Home

  • The Pure Provence Tour is not a group tour, but rather a personal experience. Every detail of the trip has been selected to help you experience Provence. Our guides are personally selected and a charming local character to the trip. This tour can be adapted as an independent tour, if your would like to drive and do it on your own.
  • Itinerary - France Journeys realizes that many travelers have special requests or need the flexibility to change the itinerary to accomodate personal interests. We are happy to make any adjustments to the itinerary that fit into the flow of the trip. We can also arrange additional days so you don't miss anything, see our pre and post stay extensions. (additional costs may apply to changes from our original itinerary)
