Wine Review Archive

Ostertag

André Ostertag produces a biodynamic variety of wines that appear to unfold with great distinction as you experience them. These Alsace wines them are creations of perfection as this artist works in this medium.

This domaine prduces  Fronholz and Zellberg wines that are both worthy of a try, but he also produces the notable Grand Cru Muenchberg. This Riesling delivers a vivid blending of fruit and offers a wine that is balanced and long.

As lush as these wines are you will be tempted to drink them now, but if you can resist they will definitely improve with age.  You may be pleasantly surprised.

Don't miss a chance to sample any of the Ostertag's wine, they all have an outstanding taste.

Château Pierre-Bise

The domaine Château Pierre-Bise is located in the Loire Valley and produces flavorful sweet wines from Chenin Blanc grapes. These scrumptious dessert wines clearly express the variations in the terroir. The variations in the soil are so diverse and distinctly different that each bottle opened will be another sweet experience.

Enjoy the savory honey sweet wines, Coteaux-du-Layon and Quarts de Chaume are must taste wines.. Although these wines may take some searching  they are definitely worth the hunt. Any selection of a Château Pierre-Bise will be a noteworthy addition to your cellar.

 Tribaut Champagne House
G. Tribaut Champagne

 G. Tribaut is situated on 12 gently rolling hectars in Hautvilliers, France. The chalky earth in this area of the Champagne region  and the three varieties of grapes both influence the champagne that is made here.

The champagne from this small producer is a harmonious creation and a delight to experience. Be sure to taste the Champagne Blanc de Blance de Réserve and the Grande Cuvée Spéciale with their subtle aromas and elegant taste.

G. Tribault is not a large distributor and their products are not widely available. You will have to visit this family run house in France to discover their traditions and their champagnes.

Their is always a warm welcome and the house is open everyday from 9 am to noon and from 2 pm to 6 pm. Sunday afternoon by appointment only.

Sancerre Domaine Vacheron

Domaine Vacheron prides themselves on being an organic producer. They were certified organic in 2003. Their wines have a fruity and zesty nature, but much of their flavor comes from the soil in the Loire Valley.

This domaine is probably the largest producer of Sancerre rouge in the region. Sancerre rouge is made up of 100% Pinot Noir and these wines have an interesting character and very distinctive flavor of cherry, black current, vanilla and zesty twist.

In addition to their reds, Vacheron also produces a very impressive white made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc. These wines tend to have a a mix of citrus, minerals and chalky taste that are distinctive and stimulating to the palette.

Don't miss a chance to sample any of the Vacheron wines for an outstanding taste of the region.
